George R.R. Martin started with of A Song of Ice and Fire with the first novel entitled A Game of Thrones. This is first book of 7-volume series. First published in 1996. A television series adaptation had also been made and broadcasted by HBO, since 2011. This novel is particularly unique in its story development since it presents various points of view and plot-lines, namely the noble houses of Westeros, the Wall, and the Targaryen plot-line. All in all, this book—or the whole series in that matter—conveys a genuine masterpiece of modern epic fantasy.
