Pinterest is crazy popular, and growing fast. With so many users pinning their daily activities, likes and dislikes, and useful information all over the web it’s no wonder a bunch of great Pinterest inspired themes have been created for WordPress.
Pinterest-like themes capture the essence of Pinterest – a masonry style grid portfolio or blog where posts include a thumbnail of the featured image and a short blurb from the article. Below are free and commercial WordPress themes I’ve found that are very Pinterest-like in their style, but are loaded with all of WordPress’s fantastic and easy to use features. Check them out below!

This responsive theme has loads of post formats, unlimited hover colors, left or right sidebar (or none at all!), optional fixed header, and infinite ajax load more! Plus the theme comes with social icons in the header and support for a “Like” plugin so it’s easy for readers to like and share your posts. Overall this WordPress theme is a great option for any personal or professional blog.
CLIPPY BY S5THEMES (FREE)
Clippy is cheerful free theme with a simple and responsive masonry grid for your posts. Add photos, galleries,audio, video, quotes, links, slideshows and standard posts. This theme also features a main navigation menu for links to important pages, and a widgetized footer for anything extra you’d like to add (like your Twitter feed, tags, links to popular posts or even a blogroll). Best of all, this theme is completely free.
KEEN BY TIENVOORACHT
Keen is a minimal masonry blog WordPress theme available on the Creative Market, and created by Tienvooracht. This theme is simple but elegant and includes lots of great premium features such as color options, custom font options, a built-in portfolio, social links widget, retina support and much more. And because it’s a premium theme, you’ll also receive support for the theme from the author which is great to have in-case you run into any bugs.
PHOTOGRAM BY COLORLABS (FREE)
Photogram is a free masonry blog WordPress theme with a useful homepage slider to highlight your featured posts. The best part about this free theme is that it integrates with your Picasa and Pinterst accounts and uses a custom gallery template to display posts you create from these social media sites. The theme also includes Ajax loading and plenty of customizations options you don’t always see in free themes.
SMOOTHIE BY CR1000
Smoothie is a sweet and girly masonry blog WordPress theme on Themeforest developed by cr1000. This theme is responsive and retina ready, so your posts look great on any device, and in includes all of the post formats you know and love (aside, audio, gallery, images, link, quote, standard and video). Smoothie also comes with two homepage layouts, theme options, translation files and premium support.
PHOTUM BY PHOTOGRAPHICBLOG (FREE)
Photum is a masonry portfolio WordPress theme that also happens to be free. This theme is clean and simple. Built to be repsonsive, the homepage grid dynamically adjusts based on screen size so you always see the right number of columns. The theme also supports a separate blog where you can share your thoughts separate from your portfolio.
SERENITYWP BY WOWTHEMES
SerenityWP is a masonry blog theme developed by WoWThemes. This responsive theme includes custom post types for your portfolio, masonry portfolio and testimonials in addition to a bunch of awesome customization options (18 color skins, unlimited colors, 29 shortcodes, theme options panel, 2 sidebars, etc). This is a great theme for creating an online blog, portfolio or showcase with a clean Pinterest style masonry grid.
VASILIKI BY FABTHEMES (FREE)
Vasilikiis a free minimal masonry grid WordPress theme that uses the jQuery Masonry grid layout plugin to create the lovely Pinterest-like look. The theme creates a grid based on the post you upload and features smooth animations, masonry layout, custom menus, theme options, banner ads and more. For a free theme there are some great features.

1Page is a premium masonry blog and magazine WordPress theme for sale on Themeforest, but designed by An-Themes. This theme includes a wonderful drag & drop gallery, unlimited colors, unlimited sidebars, masonry layout, infinite scroll, a ratings & review system, custom widgets and more. Additionally the theme is translation ready and fully responsive – so no matter where or how users acess your site, they can read each and every post you add.
SHAKEN GRID LITE BY SHAKEN & STIRRED (FREE)
The free Shaken Grid WordPress theme takes advantage of a jQuery masonry grid to created a tiled Pinterest-like effect.Plus, when you re-size the browser the post thumbnails automatically rearrange. The theme also uses WordPress’s post thumbnail feature to make it easy to add images, and comes with 2 color schemes, a fabulous gallery layout, and widgetized sidebar (a lot of great features for a free theme!).
PINBOARD BY THEMIFY
Obviously inspired by Pinterest, Pinboard by Themify is a solid option if you want a masonry grid blog. The theme has an auto stacking layout plus infinite scroll (just like Pinterest). Pinboard is also fully responsive, has capabilities for either a single WordPress install or multisite, comes with 3 layouts (small, medium, or large image thumbnails), an animated back to top button, 7 distinct skins, and much more!
TETRIS BY WPEXPLORER (FREE)
Tetris is a fully responsive Pinterest-like WordPress theme created by AJ from WPExplorer. This theme features masonry home and archive pages, and supports various post formats (standard, gallery, audio, video, link and image) so you can add just about any content you want to your site. Tetris is an easy to use WordPress theme that is a great fit for personal portfolios and blogs.
REMAL ON THEMEFOREST
Remal is a masonry grid theme overflowing with options, options, and more options. The theme is responsive, uses an isotope masonry grid to achieve the same look as Pinterest, and comes with loads of post formats (standard, image, aside, gallery, audio, quote, link, and video). Remal also features built-in social sharing and ad spaces (via widget), right-to-left support, and lots of widgets and shortcodes. Plus there are unlimited colors and background options – so if options is what your want, Remal is sure to deliver.

Clean and simple, Gridly is an awesome minimal grid masonry theme. Created with graphic designers and photographers in mind, this theme keeps the focus on the content and keeps extras to a minimum. The theme is responsive, includes a basic options panel, supports featured images, has the option to upload a custom logo, includes 2 color lovely schemes, a fully widgetized footer, and uses jQuery to create its masonry layout. If you want to keep it simple, Gridly is the free theme for you.
EXHIBIT BY THEMES KINGDOM
Exhibit is an elegant, left-aligned interpretation of a masonry grid theme. Organized and functional, Exhibit responsively displays all kinds of content (post formats include image, video, audio, link, quote, aside, gallery, video, and standard) in a way that is easy on the eyes. Modern and minimal, the Ultra Grid WordPress theme is a beautiful grid theme that is completely free. The theme is ideally for creatives with many portfolios that they want to showcase in a simple but elegant grid format (but the theme also supports standard and image post formats too). Ultra Grid also has social media integration and all of the essential theme features you need minus the fluff.
PINSHOP BY THEMIFY
When Pinterest met e-commerce Pinshop was born. This theme is an excellent masonry grid e-commerce WordPress theme. Add your products, and have them all load infinitely on the homepage. Customers can easily browse your entire inventory without having to bounce around pages. The shopping cart even uses Ajax to help facilitate a one-page shopping experience. Gridler is a powerful jQuery grid portfolio them. Elastik is a beautiful grid layout WordPress theme by WPZoom. The theme uses jQuery masonry for their responsive grid homepage. The theme comes with a featured homepage slider, useful post formats (gallery, image, and video), and custom widgets. The theme is also easy to customize via the options panel by changing colors, fonts, uploading a logo, and other elements.
IMBALANCE 2 BY WPSHOWER (FREE)
Imbalance 2is a great free option for an attractive blog, portfolio or magazine website. The modern theme features a simple clean grid layout, flexible widgetized header, and social media option. The simplicity of the theme lends it to many uses, and since it’s free you won’t have buyers remorse if you ever need to upgrade for more features.
NOTEBOOK BY ELEGANT THEMES
Notebook by Elegant Themes is a great multimedia WordPress theme solutio. Using post formats and CSS3 animations this theme makes a great first impression. Adding standard, image, video, and audio posts is a breeze. Plus the ePanel makes customizations for fonts, color schemes, and backgrounds easy (although finalizing your design might take some time since all of these options are unlimited). And since Elegant Themes is a membership site, you’ll also get the rest of their theme portfolio!
GRID BY BEATHEME (FREE)
The gRID theme by Bea Theme is a solid minimal theme option for a simple blog and portfolio site. The clean theme is Wordress 3+ ready, has a custom menu, features a 4-column layout, includes a fully widgetized sidebar, automatically creates post thumbnails, has a featured post option, and you can always upgrade to the premium bundle for support. This is an overall good theme for blogging.
BRICK+MASON BY THEMOLITOR
Brick + Mason is a beautifully styled grid portfolio theme. Developed with photographers, design studios, and other creatives in mind this theme is perfect for showcasing a large amount of work in a minimal format. Infinite scroll, jQuery masonry, responsive layout, Google font support, a slide-out sidebar, unlimited color options, dark and light skins, custom logo option are just some of the highlights of this great theme.
