Various Ways To Control The Mouse Pointer From Keyboard

Mouse is a very essential part of computer; this device makes the use of applications very easy. We are much familiar to this input device. But imagine if you are in an urgent work and suddenly you have noticed that your mouse is not working then what will you do? Yes, it is possible to work without a mouse. There is an option in Windows for using the keyboard to operate the mouse pointer. The numeric keypad can work alternatively as a mouse.

How To Use Keyboard As Mouse

There are some ways to use keyboard keys to move and click the pointer as same as the mouse does; even you can drag anything with the keyboard in the very similar manner that mouse does. Change some simple settings in your computer and use your keyboard as a mouse.

Step 1. Click on start button and then select Settings > Control Panel.

Step 2. At the Control Panel window (small icon view), double click on Accessibility Options.

Step 3. The Accessibility Options window opens. Head to the Mouse tab. Here you get the option to Use Mousekeys. Check the box to activate it.

Step 4. After this, click on Settings button. Here, you can change the pointer speed and acceleration. You can also choose the option Use mouse key when NumLock is on andShow mouse key status on screen.

Finally, click on OK. Now you can use your keyboard keys as the mouse.

Now press the Left Alt+Left Shift+Num Lock. A message box will open like below.

Press the enter Key to activate the Mouse feature in keyboard. These are the keys which are used to control the mouse pointer.

Hold down numeric key 6 for move right
Hold down numeric key 4 for move left
Hold down numeric key 8 for move up
Hold down numeric key 2 for move down
Press numeric key 5 Instead of click of mouse left button for a single click
Press numeric key + instead of click of mouse left button for a double click
Press numeric key - instead of click of mouse right button.
Press insert key to drag and for release press the key Delete.

Another Way To Use Keyboard Using Application MouseFIGHTER

There is an application named as MouseFIGHTER which also monitors the mouse pointer with keyboard. This a very simple application. The size is only 2mb and compatible with all the previous and current versions of Windows and you have to pay nothing for this application. Just download and install it.

How To Use MouseFIGHTER

First you need to download this software from the homepage. After the download, install this software. This will ask you to download .NET Framework 2.0 (If not installed previously). Click on Yes.

Once the installation is completed, open the application and click on Start button in the application window. Choose the options that fit with your requirements.

Next, click on the Keys button. Here you will find every options for the mouse click. For instance, A for left click and S for right click.

You can also change the Settings.

Now you can use your keyboard to move the pointer or click like a mouse.
