How To Remove The 'Powered by Blogger' Attribution From Your Blog

Have you noticed the "Powered by Blogger" thing in the footer of your blog? I know you did! It's called an "attribution". Wanna remove it? Don't worry, Blogger ain't gonna sue you for that!

This tutorial will teach you how you can remove that attribution from your blog.

It's nothing but a text in your blog's footer which says "Powered by Blogger" or something like that. Well actually, it's a gadget! Yeah, no kidding!If you go to your blogger dashboard >> Layout. You can see a gadget called "Attribution" at the very bottom.

Your reaction right now - "Okay Raj, on one side, you are saying that it's a gadget. And on the other side, you are writing a special post on how to remove it!? I mean ain't that too simple! It's how we normally remove gadgets."

But no, it ain't that simple! Try and remove that gadget right now! Come on, go ahead, right now! Click on the "Edit" button on the bottom-right of the attribution gadget.

Yep, you saw it right. There is no "Remove" button!

Blogger wants us to forcibly display that attribution so that everybody around the world can know that that your blog is, well, powered by Blogger!

But we always think a step ahead than that of Blogger! So here I am teaching you how to make that "Remove" button appear!

Steps to implement:

1. Go to your blogger dashboard >> Template >> Edit HTML

2. Search for the following piece of code:

 <b:widget id='Attribution1'

3. You will see something like this:

 <b:widget id='Attribution1' locked='true' title='' type='Attribution'>

4. Simply replace 'true' with 'false'. So the final code will look like this:

 <b:widget id='Attribution1' locked='false' title='' type='Attribution'>

5. You're almost done. Now go to your blogger dashboard >> Layout >> Click on "Edit" in the Attribution gadget and voila!, the "Remove" button will now be there!

Click on the "Remove" button and the gadget will be gone!


This tutorial can work on ANY gadget. You just have to know the gadget's id and you can choose whether or not to lock your gadget! If the value is "true", the Remove button won't appear. If the value is "false" the Remove button will be there
