No, this has nothing to do with the Fevicol glue! Favicon is an icon associated with a URL. You see favicons everyday on every website you visit! You simply don't know that the icon's called a "Favicon". It is displayed in:
- browser's address bar (besides the page's title)
- next to the site name in a bookmark list.
Here, take a look at Google's favicon to know what "Favicon" really is.
By default, your blog will have a "B" favicon which is actually the logo of Blogger. That default favicon looks very unprofessional and it is always a good option to replace it with your own. Here's how:
Steps to implement:
1. Go to your blogger dashboard >> Layout
2. On the upper-left, you will see a little Edit link under Favicon. Click on that.
3. Click on Choose File and select the Favicon image from your computer.
Note:
- Favicon is nothing but a normal .png or .jpg or .jpeg image.
- It should be a square image i.e. the width and height of the image should be the same. Example: 64×64 (or anything like that). After uploading, Blogger will automatically compress the image to 16×16.
- The image will automatically be converted to .ico when you upload it, so you don't have to worry about that.
4. Once you've selected the image you want, click on Save. You'r done!
Update: So you changed your Blogger blog's favicon but discovered that it ain't updating on the blog? Wanna know why this is happening? Wanna know how to fix it?
I highly recommend replacing the default "B" favicon with your own custom favicon. It gives your blog a professional feel and people will start taking your blog more seriously.
